First Lunch and Learn Video Game Design Workshop a Success! The Nest hosted its first Lunch and Learn workshop on Video Game Design on Tuesday February 14th led by a guest presenter, Luke Kane, the outreach specialist for the Department of Media and Information from Michigan State University. Luke is also Director for the MSU Media Summer Camps for middle school and high school students. He spoke to students about career pathways in game design and walked students through building their first game using a program called Construct 2. Students were excited to learn that game design students at MSU are sometimes assigned to play video games as homework as they learn about the art, design and programming components that make up a game.
Finally! The grand opening of the redesigned "Nest" space has arrived. All students in the high school and middle school came down with one of their classes this week to get a grand tour of The Nest, get a reminder of the how and why behind the redesign and participate in some kickoff activities focused on student voice in the space.
During Open House week, students contributed to a collaborative mural station, a word wall station where students were able to answer question prompts by writing all over the awesome glass walls, and a word cloud using the individual whiteboards attached to the new mobile furniture in The Nest!
